The Observationist

I was having a hard time deciding what to write about. It’s not writers block, it’s just that there is so much stuff to write about, and so many good writers covering the chaos, that it’s hard to find something that hasn’t been written about by someone far more talented than I. The world is in total disarray and if you watch or read the news, it seems like there is some new catastrophe emerging every day. With that in mind, and because I’m not a trained reporter or journalist, I would call myself an “observationist”, to coin a term, I decided that with this blog I would try and share some of my observations about some of the things I see going on in today’s weird, wild, wacky world, so here goes.

One of the things my wife and I have noticed, especially lately, is that people are just not very friendly to each other. There is a definite tension in the air, a lot of it caused by the masked vs the unmasked crowd. It’s like the mask has become a symbol of your political views. For instance, Congresswoman Rashida Talib was captured on video recently, basically saying she only wears masks when it’s politically expedient. If someone is wearing a mask outside in the bright sunshine, walking by themselves or even with a friend or two, I have a hard time believing that they are doing so for protection against the Wu-Flu, because there is NO scientific data to justify that belief. Also, can anybody tell me the justification for wearing a mask alone, in your car? What really gets me angry is when I see parents making their kids wear masks, especially outdoors. There was an article that came out recently that said that most of the deaths from the Spanish Flu, didn’t happen because of the flu, but from pneumonia. It was a study co-authored by none other than the Fraud Fauci in 2008. The study concluded that most of the pneumonia deaths occurred because of the improper and ineffective masks, in other words, dirty cloth masks. Can anyone really think that school kids are going to have anything close to a clean mask at the end of their day? There have been over 40 peer reviewed studies that say that wearing the type of cloth masks the overwhelming majority of people wear these days are totally ineffective against the Wu-flu, not to mention the other studies that show that these same masks worn by our children ALL day, do far more harm than good, both physically and emotionally. For me, that is tantamount to child abuse. I have a hard time not saying something to these parents. Maybe I’m a coward, but I feel like it’s not my place to tell parents how to care for their child, I don’t know, but I do know it’s getting harder and harder to keep my mouth shut. Like I said, I think that for a lot of people it’s more of a statement about their politics, then any health issue. For them it’s virtue signaling. “I’m better than you, I care more about people than you and I need to protect myself from you, because you are obviously a germ carrying, anti-vax, Trumper”. This is usually accompanied by a dour, accusatory, derisive look, as you pass them by. Most of the time I try to feel sympathy for these poor unfortunates, at least the adults, thinking that perhaps they just don’t realize how brainwashed they’ve become. These people aren’t stupid, (well maybe most of them aren’t) they are either just ignorant, or as I said, virtue signalers, trying to make people ashamed of wanting to breathe free air. I can’t remember, did the atmosphere vote for Trump? Ignorance is one thing, you can overcome ignorance with education, but it’s much harder to overcome an insane ideology.

Another thing I am noticing is more and more people who are seemingly “out to lunch”, like they left their brain behind when they are out running errands or what-have-you. The other day doing my daily errands I was almost in three accidents, all of which would have happened if I were not paying attention, one guy just drove through a well-marked intersection at my Target shopping center, didn’t even look, I let it pass with a heavy sigh, but then he proceeded to do it again! It wasn’t like he was driving under the influence, it was that he was just simply out to lunch. Ok, I thought, it’s just a strange thing, but then it happened again with another driver at another store, on the other side of town, it’s like a dumb bomb went off that made people forget how to drive. I shrugged it off as just one of those days, but IT KEEPS HAPPENING! I think that we have become so distracted by everything going on around us, that we are forgetting to pay attention to the here and now, it’s getting kind of dangerous out here in suburbia. Especially when you are trying to use a cross-walk on a busy street. We’ve had at least a dozen incidents over the last year or so, where drivers totally ignored not only us, but the flashing yellow warning lights on the cross-walk.

I’ve been watching a lot of older shows and movies lately, mainly because the new stuff is nothing more that then a re-hash of the old stuff anyway. There is a new Bond flick coming out, and a remake of Frank Herbert’s masterpiece “Dune”, I might go and see them, but they are certainly not new ideas. The last movie I watched was “Mars Attacks” with Jack Nicholsen and virtually everyone else in Hollyweird. One thing I found humorous, was the character played by Rod Steiger, General Decker, he looked just like General Milley-Vanilly, and is just as preposterous. Tim Burton’s Martians are great, and the fact that yodeling by Slim Whitman kills them, kills me every time. I also caught a couple of reruns of Seinfeld. It is interesting to see New Yorkers in what was once their natural habitat. Nowadays I think most New Yorkers are probably afraid to go outside with the increase in crime they are experiencing. I was watching Guttfeld, and one of his co-hosts, Kat Timpf, remarked that when she left her apartment she had to step over a homeless person (can we still call them bums? No? ok), dodge a pile of human excrement only to come upon a couple having sex by the sidewalk, and they wonder why people are leaving New York for Florida?

I watched a news story yesterday about Anthony “The Mass Murderer” Fauci. How is this guy still around? He was on one of the Sunday news shows and said that having your family around for Christmas may not be a good idea, but then when all the backlash erupted, he did yet another 180 and said he is planning on having his family over for Christmas. The story I watched yesterday, showed people who actually like this guy, who had signs in their front yards saying “Thank you Dr. Fauci”, I was dumbfounded. I realize I kind of exist in an echo chamber of sorts, but how can anyone think that this guy has done any good whatsoever? His agency funded “gain of function” research both at The University of North Carolina, and at the Wuhan lab. If we didn’t live in bizzarro-world he would be in prison for lying to Congress if nothing else. Even a cursory look at his history shows him to be at best a complete fraud and at worst one of the most evil mass murderers in history! Really, thank you Dr. Fauci? For what? For contributing to the demise of western civilization? That does cross the boundary from ignorance to pure stupidity, and you can’t fix stupid.

I tried to get back into watching professional sports. I’ve been a lifelong S.F. Giants fan, and it was really great to see them win the Western Division Title, taking it away from The Hated Dodgers. I had given up on most professional and college sports for that matter, because of the over-politicization by the athletes, owners and league officials. I made sort of a truce with baseball after watching a few games and not being inundated with the BLM b.s. everywhere. It was great, the Giants have a team without a ton of superstars like The Hated Dodgers, they play smart, winning baseball with a bunch of guys that know how to play, and seem to have a lot of fun doing just that, and not preaching about their politics. In contrast, I tried watching the 49ers, and for the first few games I tolerated them. The NFL is allowing political statements to be displayed on both the field and on players helmets, but I didn’t see any BLM slogans, although apparently, they play the so-called “Black National Anthem” before games, (nothing like trying to divide us, is there? So much for Biden the uniter, right?). The networks don’t broadcast it, so I made an uneasy truce with pro football. It’s gotten to the point where so much has been taken away from me, my job, my prospects for my future, and my vote to name a few, that I felt that I had to try and find a middle ground and, like I said, call a truce with the NFL. It worked for a while, there are banners in the end zones and on some helmets that say “End Racism” and I have no problem with that at all. I mean who wouldn’t want to end racism, right? Then the Niners brought out their rookie QB Trey Lance, to replace the injured Jimmy Garoppolo, and there on the back of his helmet, yep, you guessed it, was “Black Lives Matter”, as soon as I saw that, it was goodbye. I will say for the record that I totally support free speech and the right of misguided and misinformed people to say or believe what they want, but it doesn’t mean I have to subject myself to someone advocating a Marxist, anti-family, true domestic terrorist organization, like BLM. Thanks, Trey Lance for following in the footsteps of that other pos, former Niner QB, Collin “Crapernick”. The Niners have been beset with injuries this year, it seems like every game 2 or 3 players go down with injuries bad enough to land them on the injured reserve list. Hmm, can anyone say Karma? I knew you could. Sports, especially professional sports, used to be a way to bring opposing sides together, it didn’t matter if you were left or right. For me, as long as you hated the Dodgers, or the Lakers, (or any team from L.A. for that matter), we were on the same side, and we could talk to each other. These pro leagues, especially the NBA, which I will NEVER watch again, and the NFL, who right now for me, is on probation, have taken that away from us, furthering the already wide divide, and it is so sad, so unnecessary.

I met my great grandson today. His name is Eli, he is the son of the daughter of my son in law, who is married to my step-daughter, (reminds me of the line from Mel Brooks’ “Space Balls”, “I am your father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate”) so although there is no blood relation, I’m still going to claim great-grandpa rights anyway, because he is such a handsome young lad of 8 months. With all the crap going on in the world today, to see a baby’s smile, to hold him in my arms, brought such a joy to my heart, it was awesome. Together with my Granddaughter Abigail, who is only one month younger than Eli, they give me hope for the future. That is what’s worth fighting for, the future of these and so many more children. That is why I get so angry when I hear about what’s going on at the southern border. It is not just about illegal immigrants wanting a better life for themselves, or even about changing the voting demographics to ensure Democrat election wins for the foreseeable future, both of which are valid points. What it’s really about is human trafficking, and specifically child trafficking, one of the moist heinous crimes I can think of. By opening up our southern border, our government is colluding with the cartels on the Mexican side of the border. People have to pay the cartels thousands of dollars to be allowed to come over. As a result, children are being bought and sold and the Biden Regime is absolutely guilty of enabling this atrocity to happen, it’s thoroughly disgusting. Our media is just as guilty for not covering this story, there is no justification for this abomination and no justification for just pretending it isn’t happening. The cartels have gone from drugs being their primary source of income, to human/child trafficking, and our government not doing ANYTHING about it. By not enforcing our southern border, they are in fact, encouraging it. There is a special place in hell for these vermin, right next to Dr. “Mengela” Fauci.

Speaking of kids, and I don’t want to sound like some old curmudgeon, but is it me, or are our teenage kids even worse slobs then we were? I mentioned in a previous blog “The Downward Dog” about all the useless face diapers being discarded on the ground around the local high school and university where we live. I thought it was bad then, when schooling was done remotely, but now that the kiddies have gone back, its exploded. My wife and I have a game we play while walking our dogs, we count how many discarded masks we find. The route we take is roughly 2 miles or so, and our record is 30! When you add that to the normal amount of trash we find on our walk, which isn’t really normal, just disgusting, (whatever happened to “reduce, reuse, recycle”?). It’s as bad or worse than some of the homeless camps I’ve seen, just spread out over a greater area. So much for the Greta Thunbergs of the world. I will admit I’ve littered a time or two in my life, but never intentionally, this is absolutely intentional, come on kids pick up your mess, jeez! Yeah, I guess I am turning into a curmudgeon.

These are just a few of my observations. I try to put on a happy face when I’m out in public, smile and greet people even when they are masked for no reason. I really try not to feed the “division monster” that is lurking everywhere. When I talk to my liberal friends or family, I purposely stay away from political or religious topics. They just can’t be discussed rationally anymore. If you tell someone who leans to the left, that masks are useless, that the whole Covid story the MSM broadcasts is nothing but a pack of evil lies, even when I can prove it with documentation, all it does is further the division already existing. The truth of what is happening is so mind blowing, so paradigm shattering, that to paraphrase the famous words of Jack Nicholson’s Colonel Jessep, in the movie “A Few Good Men”, they can’t handle the truth. The thing is, the truth is coming, whether you can handle it or not, it’s coming. Right now, it’s bit by bit, but I have the feeling that pretty soon, hopefully anyway, the balance is going to tip, the lies and the liars will be exposed. It’s like when you were a little kid and tried to lie to your parents, you could get away with it for a while, for a time or two, but eventually you get caught. The old saying of Sir Walter Scott, “Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive” certainly applies. They have been caught, the scope of their lies and their devious plans are unfathomably evil, and have been going on for a long, long time, but the truth is out there. A lot of it has already been exposed, but that is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. When ALL the lies have been exposed, it’s going to rock a lot of people’s worlds, and there is going to be a great deal of anger over how they have manipulated the people for so long. There will probably be a bit of self-loathing for allowing this to happen as well, for trusting in things and powers that have done nothing to earn that trust. It’s a daily struggle for my wife and I as we see the blindness of some people. Where we live in California, the political climate is decidedly liberal, hence all the dirty looks we get for not wearing our useless face diapers outdoors. We just smile and say hello to everyone, we realize that the ignorance of these people has been purposely inflicted on them, and we pray for their enlightenment. So, pray with us and for us, the old line is never more appropriate than now “It’s always darkest before the dawn”. Dawn is coming!
